Corema can handle most collection types and material
- Living material (e.g. plants, animals)
- Preserved material (e.g. herbarium specimens, insects, birds, etc.)
- Tissue samples
- Genetic material (e.g. DNA samples, seed banks)
- Fossils
- Observations
The different types can be handled separately or in combination, i.e. a collection can cover both preserved material, tissues
and living material. |

Internet publishing
Publishing of collection data to a web-based search and presentation module is integrated. The web module can be used from a standard
browser or mobile phone by the public as well as the staff. |
Cost effective
Most Corema users will work comfortably and efficiently within days. Although we do offer training, the majority of our
customers have started to use the system successfully without any special training. |
|
High data quality
In Corema, data quality is ensured through a robust data model, comprehensive validation rules and referential
integrity in the database. |
Flexibility
Through comprehensive code and definition lists, the system can be tailored to the specific needs of a collection. Multiple
collection types can be handled in the same database, sharing taxonomy, locations, etc. |
|
Standard databases
Corema uses popular, high speed, standard SQL databases with full data integrity, variable field lengths and efficient use of
disk space. The data can easily be made available to third party tools for extraction or analyses. |
Multi-language characters and data standards
Corema has full support for multi-language character sets (Unicode).
The system uses international standards when possible.
|
|
Scalability
Corema is scalable from single user installations to large multi-user environments. An unlimited number of records can
be stored in any part of the system. |
Migration of existing data
Data stored in a structured format (e.g. spreadsheet or another database) can be migrated to Corema. This process usually
includes cleanup of the data as well. |
